New case numbers rising in Mildura

MILDURA has recorded more than 100 new COVID cases overnight, after high totals were also reported over the weekend.

There were 120 new confirmed or probable cases reported on Monday in the Mildura local government area, for a total of 653 active cases.

This follows a total of 142 positive cases of COVID-19 at the weekend. Ninety-seven new cases were confirmed on Saturday and a further 45 on Sunday.

Another six new cases were reported in the Robinvale postcode on Monday, for a total of 54 active cases there.

The deaths of seven COVID patients were reported in Victoria on Monday. There were 19 deaths in Queensland and 14 in NSW.

In South Australia, which has struggled with high infection numbers since borders were reopened, more than 30 guests at an Adelaide backpackers' hostel are being moved to a medi-hotel after it was identified as a close contact site.
