Two new COVID cases identified

TWO new coronavirus cases have been identified in Mildura overnight, bringing total active cases in the town to four.

The cases are household contacts of the man who attended the MCG on Saturday, July 10.

Both cases were isolating for their whole infectious period.

In total, 26 new cases were announced in Victoria. Twenty-four of the 26 cases had been in isolation for their entire infectious period, and all 26 are linked to the current outbreaks.

Three days ago just six per cent of new cases were isolating for their entire infectious period, Health Minister Martin Foley said. Today 92 per cent of cases fully isolated.

Health Minister Martin Foley reminded 19,000 people isolating across Victoria they can "only leave isolation if you have been contacted by the department (of health)".

Victorian Covid Commander Jeroen Weimar said sustaining isolation was "how we will get on top of this outbreak".

On Wednesday 520 people in Mildura came forward to get tested for coronavirus, bringing the town's total to 3190 tests since Sunday.

Health authorities are preparing for more queues at testing sites next week as people come forward to get tested on day 13 of their isolation period.

Bendigo Health has confirmed its team will remain in Mildura until next week to complete day 13 tests.
