FOR 37 years, the grave of Joanne Egan's mother was marked only by a piece of PVC pipe with her name on it.

Ms Egan, a Muthi Muthi-Boonwurrung woman, lost her mum when she was a child, at a time when she "needed her most", and recalls the heartbreak of visiting her grave site "to see her having nothing".

But all that is about to change.
