IT was a changing of the guard with Donna Fisher claiming the women’s title in the Mildura Squash Club Championships held recently.
Fisher showed great mental strength to defeat long-time friend, training partner and rival Jeanette Vears in an epic five-set battle, 3-2.
Vears has dominated women’s squash in Sunraysia for years, but Fisher finally had her day, claiming an emotional win 7-15, 15-12, 15-13, 7-15, 15-6.
In the men’s top division, Kevin Healy showed his class to defeat Paul Takacs 3-0.
The win was Healy’s 35th club championship title, an amazing achievement for the veteran of the game.
In other results, promising youngster Cameron Whyte claimed the boys’ title, defeating Eamonn Whyte 3-2.
