LADD’S Boxing Club’s Jackson Ladd has been selected as the 2019 Merbein and District Community Bank 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year for the month of September. 

On the weekend of September 20-22 Ladd competed in the South Australian state novice titles in the 69kg division. 

He won his first fight on the Friday and then competed in the preliminary final on the Saturday, winning that before then claiming gold to continue a quick rise.

Ladd’s first fight was in February at the amateur boxing 2019 season opener where he suffered a loss. 

In June he represented South Australia against Queensland and recorded his first win and then in July he won the Mount Gambier championship – showing steady improvement.

Ladd continued to stay dedicated, train hard with the state championship being his main goal throughout the year. 

He has shown great sportsmanship in all his bouts and not only is Ladd achieving his goals but is becoming very good as a coach as well as being a great role model to the younger boxing students by mentoring and helping them build confidence.
