Waters turns in another strong practice run

CAMERON Waters in his Tickford Racing Mustang was fourth-fastest in Friday afternoon’s practice at the 2020 Supercars Championship opener in Adelaide.

The Mildura driver backed up being fifth-fastest in Thursday’s first practice with another good display on Friday, being the second-fastest Ford driver for the second day running behind Milwaukee Racing’s Will Davison.

Davison was quickest on Thursday and second-quickest on Friday, with Red Bull Holden Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen atop the practise sheets with another session to go.

Kelly Racing’s Rick Kelly was 13th-fastest on Friday afternoon, backing up from grazing the wall on Thursday in his new Ford Mustang on his way to the 11th-quickest time as he learnt his new car’s handling characteristics.

“We grazed the wall there at the end,” he said.

“It wasn’t actually from me pushing too hard; it was actually me braking a little bit too early and releasing the brake pedal a bit too soon, which pops the nose up and gives you a bit of push, so we just went wide and brushed the wall.
