ACCC report slams Murray-Darling Basin water trading

CONCERNS raised by Sunraysia irrigators and other stakeholders have been validated by a report calling for an urgent overhaul of Murray-Darling Basin, according to Member for Mallee Anne Webster.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) interim findings into the $1.5 billion-a-year trade found market intermediaries such as brokers and water exchange platforms operated in a mostly unregulated environment that fostered conflicts of interest and dodgy reporting.
