Police investigation after body recovered from Murray River

A POLICE investigation is under way after the recovery of a body from the Murray River near Swan Hill.

Victoria Police divers located the body of a 21-year-old man at 6.50pm on Sunday after receiving reports on Saturday he had fallen from a boat and failed to resurface.

Police and the State Emergency Service (SES) launched the search operation on Saturday night, but was suspended at 9pm.

The search resumed at 6am on Sunday morning with additional assistance from NSW Police, before a crime scene was established following the discovery of the body that evening.

Detectives from Murray River Police District have started inquiries and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
