A SPUR-of-the-moment decision has proven expensive for a Mildura man who tried to outrun police in his mother's car.

The man pleaded guilty to dangerous driving while being pursued by police, speeding and failing to display P-plates before Mildura Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
