Paramedic and officer assaulted - police

A 32-YEAR-old Mildura man has been charged over an assault of a paramedic and a police officer during an incident at the Mildura RSL on Saturday afternoon.

Paramedics called for police assistance when the man allegedly turned violent after suffering a medical episode about 1.40pm.

Police said the man assaulted one of the attending paramedics by shoulder charging him and then pushed a chair into police officers when they attempted to intervene.

They said the man attempted to grab a police officer by the jacket during the arrest and attempted to punch the same officer after being subdued.

The man was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and assaulting and resisting a police officer.

He was bailed to appear at Mildura Magistrates' Court at a later date.
