A WOMAN was forced to hide in scrubland at Hattah-Kulkyne National Park after fleeing a man who she was camping with after he smashed her head into the inside of a car and threw her phone into the bush so she could not contact anyone.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard the pair had travelled from Echuca to camp in the national park in June last year, arriving at the park about 3.30pm.
