A YOUNG female itinerant worker was killed when a truck and car collided near Merbein on Thursday afternoon.

Police believe the Isuzu water tanker was travelling south on Main Avenue (Calder Highway) and a Holden SUV was heading east on Fifth Street when the accident happened about 2.35pm.
