POLICE have revealed the motorbike rider who died on Saturday night was a 46-year-old Irymple man.

About 7.30pm police said they activated their lights and attempted to pull the rider over in Plantation Street.

However the motorcyclist is alleged to have taken off at speed.

Police said there was no pursuit.

The motorcyclist was found in Alica Court a short time later.
