WHILE the National Irrigators Council (NIC) understands the hardship driving the anger of irrigators who protested in Canberra last week, the problems would be made worse by ditching, rather than fixing, the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
The strong view of council members is that the flaws and challenges in implementing the basin plan are best addressed by acting on recommendations of this year’s Productivity Commission review.
