A PERFECT storm of predicted high temperatures and strong winds has prompted the Country Fire Authority (CFA) to issue an extreme fire danger warning and total fire ban for the Mallee region on Wednesday.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 37 degrees in Mildura, with a 20 per cent chance of rain in the afternoon and early evening.
