Ash to wash into rivers when rain hits, says MDBA

BUSHFIRES burning across the southern Murray-Darling Basin will affect water quality in some catchments when rain finally comes, the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) has warned.

MDBA river operations executive director Andrew Reynolds said while fires had not damaged river structures or operations the authority manages, water quality was likely to be affected by rainfall.
