Powercor works to reconnect Robinvale, Wemen customers

POWERCOR was working on Thursday afternoon to reconnect about 40 customers in the Robinvale and Wemen areas who lost power on Wednesday morning.

More than 2100 properties were left without power on Wednesday morning, with most reconnected by 9pm.

A Powercor spokesman said the area was affected by a series of faults including an outage at Wemen terminal station.

"Customers were taken off supply for safety reasons just after 9.30am as higher-than-normal voltages were detected at substations at Robinvale and Wemen," the spokesman said.

"A small number of customers in the area have reported some issues with electrical equipment and appliances.

"Any customers who notice any issues with equipment or appliances, or who want to discuss making a claim, can call 132 412. A fact sheet on claims is also available on our website."

In a statement, Lower Murray Water (LMW) said there was no disruption to urban customers while rural water services were fully operational on Thursday.

LMW was asking Robinvale domestic and stock customers not to cease outdoor use on Thursday so the maximum volume of water was available for rescheduled irrigation orders and to avoid a system shutdown.

The LMW operations team worked with customers until late on Wednesday to reschedule water orders that were disrupted by the external power supply interruption.
