MILDURA snake catcher Steve Morrow is warning pet owners to be extra vigilant in what has been a worrying start to the snake season.

Eight cats and dogs -- some of which were unable to be saved -- have been rushed to Mildura Veterinary Hospital after being bitten by snakes.
