Bupa Mildura gets clean bill of health in audit

AGED-care provider Bupa was given a tick of approval for its Mildura nursing home during the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission's most recent audit.

It follows claims that 30 per cent of Bupa's nursing homes in Australia were putting the health and safety of the elderly "at serious risk".

The ABC reported 13 Bupa homes had been sanctioned by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, prompting chief executive Hisham El-Ansary to apologise for not getting the quality of care right for all residents.

However, the Bupa Aged Care Mildura nursing home in Deakin Avenue received a clean bill of health to meet all 44 expected outcomes in its last audit in September 2016.

The performance enabled Bupa to gain a further three-year accreditation, which expires in December this year.

The re-accreditation took two days to complete and covered four standards covering management systems, health and personal care, care recipient lifestyle and the physical environment.
