THE Salvation Army will take over the former Vinnies store in Ouyen, restoring welfare services to the community.

The decision to close the popular store by June was announced in April, leaving shop volunteers and customers devastated.

Meetings held in May revealed a community desire to see a thrift store remain in Ouyen.
