MILDURA Council’s emission costs will be slashed by more than $200,000 from 2021 following a decision to endorse a new solar electricity procurement agreement.
At last Wednesday’s meeting, councillors voted to commit 100 per cent of its electricity load under a power purchase agreement (PPA), which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the council’s buildings and facilities.
The PPA will save the council $211,097 over a 10-year contract at a cost of $12,000, which will be contributed to the Victorian Local Government PPA tender development and evaluation stage.
