A MILDURA man has narrowly avoided time in jail after a home-made handgun, ammunition and two stolen motorcycles were found at his home.

The Mildura Magistrates' Court heard police executed a firearms prohibition order warrant at the Brodie Close address of William John Hay when they found the weapons, ammunition and the two dirt bikes.
