POLICE have been sifting through missing person files as they await a forensic examination on what is believed to be a partial skull found on the riverbank at Mildura's Apex Park beach this week.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District were called to Apex Park shortly before 5.30pm on Monday after a man walking along the river’s edge found the partially buried bone.
