A MILDURA man who shattered a woman's capacity to enjoy life as the result of a degraded, demeaning and terrifying assault has been jailed.

The County Court sitting at Mildura heard Michael Handy repeatedly punched and kicked the female, struck her numerous times with a large wooden chopstick, threatened to kill the victim and threw a hatchet at her which narrowly missed.
