WENTWORTH Shire Council has announced "with great sadness" the death of former mayor and sitting councillor Tim Elstone.

Acting Mayor Cr Peter Crisp issued a formal statement this week lauding Cr Elstone as a dedicated councillor, family man and "pillar of our community".
