A FOREST Fire Management Victoria officer from the Mallee is back on home soil after supporting fire crews during the devastating Grampians fire.

Loddon Mallee's FFMVic field operations supervisor, based at Rainbow, Courtney Newton undertook two deployments helping to combat the blaze, spending only Christmas Day at home before a second stint in the fire zone.
