A DAMAGED cable caused the boom gates and lights at the Eleventh Street/Benetook Avenue rail crossing to trigger without warning at least twice over the weekend.

The intersection was shut to traffic for multiple hours on Saturday morning due to the malfunction, as the boom gates had lowered and lights were flashing, without the presence of a freight train.
