THE ingenious use of photography to both document and promote Mildura during pioneer settlement years will be discussed at the opening night of next month's inaugural Chaffey Festival.

Historian, Ken Orchard, has analysed a series of photos from the 1880s and 1890s, which were commissioned by the Chaffey brothers to immortalise moments of development in the area.
