WENTWORTH Shire Mayor Daniel Linklater has described Cr Stephen Heywood as "a true gentleman" after the death of his municipal colleague on Wednesday.

Cr Linklater said Cr Heywood "was a strong and passionate advocate for all rural issues, but always based his decision-making on what was best for Wentworth Shire".
