NEXT Friday marks the 80th anniversary of World War II Lancaster bomber “Q for Queenie” landing at Mildura on an Australia-wide Fourth Liberty Loan fund-raising tour.

When Queenie arrived in Mildura, 10,000 people turned out to greet her, contributing 18,300 pounds to the loan and bolstering Sunraysia’s total of 177,980 pounds, a little short of the district’s quota of 195,000 pounds.
