MILDURA appears out of reach for the exodus of city-dwellers despite a surge of people leaving Australia’s capital cities for country communities.

Melbourne had the second-highest net exporter of people with a loss of almost 82,000 during the latest Census period (2016-2021) with 86 per cent of those heading for regional Victoria.
