AN endangered rodent whose southernmost sightings in New South Wales have previously been near Broken Hill has now been detected edging ever closer to Sunraysia.

Conservationists stumbled across the dusky hopping mouse at Scotia Wildlife Sanctuary on Barkandji country in south-west NSW, more than 100 kilometres south of where the mouse was last recorded.
