MORE than 150 people joined in a Buddhist water-pouring ceremony in celebration of “Songkran” or Thai New Year at Mildura restaurant Thai-Riffic last week.

Restaurant owner John McRae said the event commemorates the start of the wet season in Thailand, and runs over three days from April 13 to 15 with participants splashing each other with water and making a blessing to the Buddha.
