SUNRAYSIA, you are wanted by police.
Victoria Police will run run an information session at the Alfred Deakin Centre on Thursday for anyone interested in becoming an officer.
Local area commander Inspector Michelle Young encouraged anyone who had ever considered a role in the force to apply for the career.
"We are very much about recruiting from our community, so different ethnicities, different sectors within the community, different ages," she said.
"If there is nothing precluding somebody, because there are some criteria, then we encourage them to apply because we do represent the community."
During the information session, attendees will be able to learn about recruitment and the role, speak to local officers and ask questions about a career in the police force.
Insp. Young said there were over 300 different roles within Victoria Police, meaning individuals could work in various roles while still having the "security and stability of being within the one organisation".
"I am in my 28th year of being a police officer and during my time I have been able to work in various locations across the state," she said.
"I’ve under taken different duties anything from undercover work, prosecutions, intelligence, front line, the areas of family violence, sexual offences, so the opportunity are endless."
Insp. Young said it was a rewarding career to be in.
"It is a wonderful opportunity and great soul food to actually give back to community," she said.
"We see the best, we see the worst, but again we are members of the community. So if you’re available, give it a go."
The information session will run from 6pm to 8pm tomorrow in the Benetook Room.
