EVERY useable space at Mildura Base Public Hospital was converted to temporary ward space to manage a critical bed shortage this week.

The hospital declared a "code yellow" emergency on Wednesday night, this status allowing the use of all clinical spaces, including operating theatres, to be used for patient care.
