MILDURA'S first Olympic Games medallist, Kevin Hogarth, has died at the age 88.

Mr Hogarth was 22 when he competed in the 1956 Olympic Games boxing welterweight division, reaching the semi-finals.

In that bout, against Irishman Fred Tiedt, many believed Mr Hogarth had done enough to win the fight and push for a gold medal, however Tiedt was awarded the bout on points.
