Restrictions ease for some

SUNRAYSIA residents on the New South Wales side of the border will move one step closer to "COVID-normal" this week.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian today announced there would be an easing of restrictions across NSW.

"With the rollout of the vaccine now under way, and no new locally acquired cases in NSW, we are able to make further changes towards a new COVID-normal," Ms Berejiklian said.

As of 12.01am on Friday, February 26, there will be up to 50 visitors allowed at home, 30 people allowed to dance at weddings, with rotation on and off the dance floor, increased class limits for gyms to 50 people (now 30) subject to the 4sqm rule, number of performers singing indoors increased to 30 (now five) subject to physical distancing requirements, singing by congregants allowed in places of worship if masks are worn and subject to one person per 4sqm (currently no congregant singing is allowed, with one per 2sqm permitted in places of worship) and increase in capacity for cinemas to 100 per cent.

If current trends continue, drinking while standing up at indoor venues will be allowed in three weeks' time, from Wednesday, March 17.

Premier of South Australia Steven Marshall today also announced that South Australia would drop its remaining COVID-19 border restrictions with Victoria from Friday, allowing travellers from Greater Melbourne to enter the state.

This change in restrictions will allow people to travel between SA and Victoria without getting tested.

Further restrictions for South Australian residents will also ease, these included dancing is to be allowed in venues with a capacity of less than 200 patrons.

Venues between 200 and 1000 will also be allowed dancing, but must limit numbers on the dancefloor to 50 at a time.

Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews is set to speak on Friday regarding the current restrictions and any changes being made for Victorians.
