FIREFIGHTERS have contained a blaze that forced campers near Robinvale to evacuate.

The bushfire, about seven kilometres south-west of Robinvale, burned about 17 hectares of mallee scrub and until Monday was not under control.

Firefighters worked throughout Sunday night in an effort to contain the blaze that was burning in a north-easterly direction.
