NORTH-west Victoria remains on track for a drenching late Saturday with as much as 40mm of rain expected in some areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology says potentially severe thunderstorms could bring heavy rainfall and large hail in the afternoon and evening with potentially damaging winds.
