MILDURA on Wednesday recorded its coldest maximum temperature since the airport weather station was established 74 years ago.

Temperatures remained stubbornly low throughout the day, with the maximum topping out just before 3pm at 7.6 degrees -- below the previous daily record of 7.9 degrees on July 11, 1956.
