Man escapes Cowra Avenue blaze

A MAN was able to escape to safety after his house caught on fire on Saturday night while he was inside.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) and Country Fire Authority crews were called to the Cowra Avenue property about 7.45pm.

Four fire trucks arrived to find the home well alight and threatening a nearby shed.

"It took firefighters 40 minutes to contain the blaze and declare the incident under control," a FRV spokesperson said.

"The fire was deemed suspicious and the scene has been handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation."

Police investigated the scene on Sunday and determined the fire had not been deliberately lit.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
