OUYEN Lake will be stocked with 500 rainbow trout for the first time.

It comes as the Victorian Government stocked more than 35,000 catchable size rainbow trout into almost 80 lakes across the state.

The move is aimed to provide more freshwater fishing opportunities, particularly for youngsters on the school holidays.
