EVENTS: In connection with the Smoke Social at the Exhibition Buildings during the visit of the Prince of Wales, Mr G.I. Picton informs us that 2000 seats have been reserved for country soldiers. Applications for tickets should be made by the 22nd May at Anzac House. West Mildura beat Merbein at football on Saturday last and Irymple accounted for East Mildura. In Melbourne, Fitzroy beat Carlton, Collingwood beat Melbourne, South Melbourne beat Essendon and St Kilda beat Geelong. The mixed foursome for the Pegler Trophy was played on Saturday and, notwithstanding the wind and dust that prevailed, twelve pairs competed. The wind was against good scores. The result was a "tie" between Mrs. Cutts and Tierney and Mrs. Crozier and Hebbard, and will be played off at a date to be fixed. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. J.H. and D. Bell, and appreciated by all present. (19.5.1920)
