Sunraysia Daily to revive Wednesday edition

SUNRAYSIA Daily will be reviving its Wednesday print edition from next week.

After temporarily ceasing all its printed publications in late March due to the economic impact of the coronavirus, the Elliott Newspaper Group reinstated a Saturday only print edition on Saturday, April 4, while the crisis continued.

Due to the support of staff, commercial partners and readers of the Saturday print issue since it was reinstated, ENG directors have made the decision to reinstate the Wednesday edition from May 20 onwards.

Sunraysia Daily general manager Glenn Robinson said the move was driven by reader demand, both online and in print.

Mr Robinson said the "number of eyeballs looking at news content" proved the appetite for local news from a reliable and trusted news source was as strong as ever.

"There does seem to be more activity around the town on certain days, which hopefully indicates a desire to return to a resemblance of normal, whatever and whenever that may be," he said.

He said as the region began to emerge from tough coronavirus restrictions, the time was right to take the next step in reinstating the Wednesday issue of Sunraysia Daily, and was grateful for the support of readers and commercial partners.

"As the journal of record for our region this is another positive step in reinstating the Sunraysia Daily print product in conjunction with what we now publish digitally on a daily basis," Mr Robinson said.
