Kirby steps down as MDAS CEO

RUDOLPH Kirby has stepped down from his position as chief executive officer of Mallee District Aboriginal Services.

MDAS Chairman Keith Hampton said Mr Kirby had resigned for personal and family reasons.

MDAS Director of Family Services Andy Charles is now the organisation's acting CEO until a permanent appointment is made.

Mr Kirby, 47, was late last year acquitted on charges of rape and sexual assault relating to an incident which was alleged to have happened in early 2014.

It took a jury 20 minutes to acquit him with a unanimous verdict in the Griffith District Court.

MDAS said on Tuesday it would not be making any further comment.
