MILDURA'S economy is staring at a loss of between $8 million and $10 million during its peak Easter tourism period.

"It is a bit of a write-off," Mildura Regional Development (MRD) chief executive Brett Millington said.

"It is a significant loss for all businesses, but in the current environment there is nothing anyone can do about it."
