Dust storm impact could damage Sunraysia landscape

DUST storms that repeatedly blanketed Sunraysia over the past few months could have a devastating impact on the region's landscape if they continue in the long term, an Australian soil expert has warned.

And the impacts of climate change meant it was crucial land was protected as much as possible during wet years to try and mitigate the impact of raised dust during prolonged periods of drought, University of Sydney Associate Professor of Soil Science Stephen Cattle said.
