By Danielle Wilcock SUNRAYSIA'S Robert Walton has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his contribution and service to education and the community.

Mr Walton, or Bob as he is preferably known, has dedicated over 60 years to the local education system.

In 1959 he started training as a teacher in Ballarat and has since fulfilled many roles in Mallee schools.
