BENDIGO Sprintcar driver Rusty Hickman's team was 223km from the Husets Speedway in South Dakota track, with less than three hours until driver sign-in, when the pick-up truck towing his race-car trailer suddenly expired on the side of the interstate last Sunday.

They were in Blencoe, Iowa, population 238, and all hope seemed lost.
