Heimgartner’s Eseries kicks into high gear

WITH the Supercars series on hold, Kelly Racing's André Heimgartner is ready to take on the Supercars All Stars Eseries with his new simulator setup.

Heimgartner is an experienced sim racer and has been using a simulator for the last few Supercars championship seasons to learn the race tracks before tackling them in the real world in his NED Racing Ford Mustang.

While not yet used to racing against a whole field of cars in the virtual world, Heimgartner is ready for the challenge having upgraded his sim setup for the Eseries.

The #7 NED Racing driver will be getting plenty of practice on his sim over the coming days in preparation for next week's inaugural Supercars All Stars Eseries event.

Heimgartner has been clocking up plenty of laps of the already familiar Philip Island circuit while Monza is sure to be a good challenge for the young Kiwi.

Round One of the Supercars All Stars Eseries kicks off next Wednesday, April 8 and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo, Facebook, YouTube, TenPlay and Twitch.

The Kelly Racing driver said he was looking forward to the new challenge while providing a distraction while drivers and their teams wait for the Supercars season to recommence.

"It's really exciting to take on the new challenge of racing in the Eseries,

I've enjoyed the last few weeks upgrading my existing simulator setup to what it is now which is pretty cool with the race seat, race wheel and the Supercars shifter," Heimgartner said.

"It's honestly pretty realistic and it does take a fair bit of skill to keep the car on the race track.

"It should be fun, it's something that definitely takes some practice to get used to so we could be in for some carnage, but at the same time the guys that have been practicing I'd expect to be pretty good.

"At the end of the day it's great that us as a sport are able to do this, certainly there are a lot of sports out there that can't do this so we're grateful we can still give the fans something to watch and we hope they can all get behind it.

"It's definitely going to be a laugh with some good banter between all of the drivers that's for sure."
